NEWS: INOVEM launches a service to help GPs get better connected

15th June 2011
Revealed at Commissioning 2011, GP Connect utilises INOVEM's online collaboration software to make it easier for GP Commissioning Consortia to cost effectively communicate and consult more widely with internal and external stakeholders.

London, UK, June 15th 2011 - INOVEM, the leading UK developer of online consultation and collaboration software, has today introduced GP Connect at the Commissioning 2011 event hosted at Olympia, London. Opened by Andrew Lansley, Secretary of State for Health, the show has attracted over 1,700 delegates from across the health sector who have come together to debate and prepare for GP-Led Commissioning.

The need for wider participation in health commissioning; from hospital doctors, nurses, GPs, care workers, local authorities and local communities is central to the NHS reforms being discussed at the conference. Recognising the challenge of facilitating and managing communications across such a diverse and geographically dispersed group of stakeholders, INOVEM has introduced GP Connect to enable forward-thinking Consortia to actively invite participation via secure online team workspaces and stakeholder communities.

Provided as a Cloud-based (Internet) service, GP Connect provides a secure environment for commissioning team members to collaborate with NHS executives, GPs, local authorities and other stakeholders to co-develop and get feedback on contracts, work programmes and service level agreements as they shadow Primary Care Trusts during the transition period. It is unlikely at this stage of their formation that GP Consortia will have access to enterprise IT solutions that can be easily accessed by external parties, so a low-impact, low-cost Cloud-based solution is likely to prove very popular.

John Glover, INOVEM's Director of Sales & Marketing, said "Given the significance and demand for wider stakeholder participation in commissioning decisions it will be important for GP Consortia members to able to share information and to seek the views of stakeholders in a cost-effective manner. We believe that our GP Connect service, introduced at Commissioning 2011, will provide a valued platform for widespread team-working and community involvement."
